PRACTICE and PROGRAMMING SATURDAY AND SUNDAY - TIMES AND PLACES
READ IT ALL COMPLETELY. SEE MAP BELOW. CHECK WEBSITE AGAIN ON BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AM TO BE SURE THE SITUATION HASN'T CHANGED DUE TO TECHNICAL PROBLEMS.Saturday, February 20th: Meet at JEA Customer Center at 11:00 AM. We will be there until 6:00 PM. Parental units need to be picking you up by 6:00 PM. Be on time....we don't have time to take away from our work to let people in and out.
Sunday, February 21st: Meet (same place) at 12:00 Noon. Parental units need to be picking you up by 6:00 PM. Earlier meeting time is absolutely futile due to church parking and traffic issues around the JEA TOWER.
This is when the Programmos will get to the fine-tuning of the drive and operating functions plus figure out how to make the autonomous functions work.
This is also when all driver try-out and driver selection will be done. If you have any aspirations for becoming the driver or operator or human player you need to plan to be at JEA all day for both days.
Be prepared for either Arctic or Saharan climate possibilies. Elder students will attest to freezing and dying of heat prostration in one day.
SATURDAY PLANS:
We will meet at 11:00 AM SATURDAY at the JEA office building DOWNTOWN - the exact same room that you all watched the Kickoff Meeting from. Be signing in and getting ready to walk in by 10:45.....
There will need to be several warm bodies to meet at my house at 9:00 AM Saturday to help load the goal and robot and tools and and and into various trucks for the trip downtown. I will notify those people personally. If you aren't specifically told to be at Chaos Central Saturday 9:00 AM, then plan to go to JEA and be there ready to be be signed in at 10:45 AM.
NOTE: There will be plenty of boredom time. There always is. Bring CLEAN snacks and drinks, appropriate dress, QUIET READING OR STUDY MATERIAL because there needs to be a mental and physical atmosphere conducive to programming. We have a ton of work to do. It will be stressful for the programmos....be considerate! Don't bring anything that makes noise including guitars.
Inventos will be working on their responsibility - the award submission.
AS ALWAYS, THOSE FOLKS THAT WANT TO TRY OUT FOR Driver, Operator, or Human Player NEED TO BE ESPECIALLY PRESENT AND ATTENTIVE (BUT INVISIBLE TO THE PROGRAMMOS!) I want at least one backup person for each position.
We will likely order sandwiches for lunch. Bring some money. Vending machines are available in the kitchen. DO NOT BRING ANYTHING THAT NEEDS USE OF THE KITCHEN.
SUNDAY PLANS:
I assume that Sunday plans will be pretty much the same as Saturday with more emphasis on driving and operating and targeting. HINT....prospective drivers, operators, and robocoaches need to be there......
VERY VERY IMPORTANT: Members of the JEA Board, VISTAKON engineering management, Grainger Indsutrial Supply, JC PENNEY management and several visitors (prospective new members) have been invited. EVERYONE needs to be acting like my Chairman of the Board is going to walk through the door at any second because he may do just that!!
MOST IMPORTANTLY: This plan can and will change as we progress. To avoid embarrasing mis-communications, please check the website several times a day until we ship the robot TUESDAY AFTERNOON!!!!
There will almost certainly be changes in the plans. Pay attention!!
